HOW-TO BE THE ARTIST ===================== How can I explain this ? Artists are gifted people, only God tells them what to do :) Basically, we welcome the following artistic stuff: 1. Any beautifull screenshots. Of Vector Linux of course. You may use fbshot to capture the console (frame buffer must be activated), and gimp to capture GUI screen. These will be included to the documentation. 2. A set of matching background, login-background and icons. These will be included into vlart package (for standard and soho). 3. Windows Manager themes. The highly rated is the one that can give uniform look between various WM (KDE, IceWM, XFCE, fluxbox). 4. GUI themes (GTK, KDE, GNOME). Like WM-theme, the uniform one is preferred. 5. Various graphics, e.g: KDE splash, KDE sidebar. 6. VL logo, movie, etc for identity. 7. Your imagination You may submit your creation as is, and let the vectelopers pack it. However, if you want to do that by yourself, it is not so hard. 1. Download and install the vecteloper package. 2. Find the examples on /home/vectelopment directory, e.g: tar/x11/vlart : set of backgrounds + icons + logo tar/x11/CORE/fluxbox-custom : themes + menu for fluxbox tar/x11/CORE/fluxbox-custom : themes + menu for fluxbox tar/x11/CORE/fluxbox-custom : themes + menu for fluxbox tar/x11/CORE/fluxbox-custom : themes + menu for fluxbox 3. There is a HOWTO file on the example. Please read it to get the idea. Basically, you just have to put the things in place with proper name, then create some standard symlinks. 4. After everything is in place, call this from vectelopment dir: ./zp For example ./zp tar/x11/CORE/vlart 5. You will get a file named src/tar/x11/CORE/vlart-VER-src-vl5.tar.bz2. Submit it to the FTP vectelopment site under src directory.
