That means, all directories are writable. You can 'install'/add (into RAM) every application from preconfigured Mandriva ftp sources to the running LiveCD. You can use the Mandrake Control Center, and browse available applications, or the command line 'urpmi' command. Also, you are able to add and change sources. - You are only limited by your RAM/swap file ;-) --chris http://www.rainbowlinux.org http://www.mandrivaclub.nl Some tips for the release 'Brugge' * Brugge is a marvellous town in Belgium: http://www.brugge.be/toerisme/en/index.htm * Login as root (password is root): English language. Login as mcnl (password: mcnl): Dutch language
* The 'Brugge' release comes with unionfs, it is enabled by default. You can install (into RAM) additional applications on the running LiveCD from preconfigured Mandriva ftp sources. You do need enough RAM to use this feature, 256 MB should be fine. Use the Mandr* Control Center to browse thousands of available packages or use 'urpmi' on command line. Add additional ftp sources if you like it. Let MCNLive talk in your native language by installing the language files, example, as root do: urpmi kde-i18n-he, and Hebrew is available; urpmi kde-i18n-fr will turn MCNLive into French. You can even add a new Desktop Environment/Window Manager: urpmi icewm-light Logout, login back and choose icewm. * If your sound is muted, use kmix (speaker icon in the system tray) to unmute it and play with the volume sliders. * If the monitor resolution is too low, double click on the icon 'Screen Settings' and you can change it, using a graphical menu. * If you can't boot the LiveCD, check the md5sum of the downloaded iso, check if you burned the iso ok. Still in trouble? At the boot prompt type: livecd noapic nolapic
