He said Windows95 was currently being tested by 50,000 users and would be shipped out to 400,000 people by the end of this month for further feedback. ``We are being extremely careful here. We have made a huge investment and we want to make sure we have got this right. The product will sell in very high volumes,'' he said. Gates said Microsoft had used the new version as its primary system for the past six months. ``We are feeling very good about the product,'' he said. The new system will replace the existing MS-DOS and Windows 3.1 versions already sold by Microsoft. Gates refused to give precise forecasts on how much revenue Windows95 would bring the company, but said he expected most people using MS-DOS and Windows would take the new version. ``If you take the 40 million PCs that are sold a year, you can take a personal guess as to how much we will sell,'' he said. He said the upgrade price for the new product would be about $100, adding that Windows95 would be very heavily promoted. ``This fall should be a very exciting time in the PC business, but I can give no figures. That's the job of the analysts,'' Gates said. -=>MUSTANG SOFTWARE FILES REGISTRATION STATEMENT WITH SECURITIES AND <=- -=> EXCHANGE COMMISSION TO SELL 1 MILLION SHARES OF COMMON STOCK <=- BAKERSFIELD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 16, 1995--Mustang Software Inc.
